Mister Munro, Crookwell

The former c.1890 tailor shop and residence, located in the heart of Crookwell, stands as a timeless piece of local history. Once the home of Mister William Munro in the late 1800s, the building's historical significance has been carefully preserved while thoughtfully reimagined for contemporary living. The project was an opportunity to transform this architectural gem into a modern three-bedroom, one-bathroom townhouse, blending the past with the present in an elegant harmony.

The interior design reveals layers of history, with original architectural features such as the stunning Kauri Pine floorboards and a grand staircase, uncovered during the restoration process. The building’s original fireplace, a focal point of the living room, adds warmth and charm, inviting guests to gather and experience the rich history embedded in the space. A curated selection of art and antique furniture complements the architecture, creating an atmosphere that celebrates the building’s storied past while offering the comforts of modern design.

The living room, with its expansive collection of books, exudes a cozy yet sophisticated ambiance. Painted in a moody dark green velvet, the space evokes the feel of an intimate whisky parlour, where one might curl up in front of the wood fire and lose themselves in a good read. The design of the room is both inviting and luxurious, a perfect blend of comfort and style.

Positioned just a few minutes from Crookwell's main street, this townhouse is both a retreat and a statement of architectural transformation. Every detail, from the preservation of historical elements to the integration of modern comforts, has been meticulously considered to create a home that feels both timeless and contemporary. Designed with care and passion, this home celebrates the legacy of Mister Munro.
